About and Directions

Hi Everone!

Just want to say thank you for reading, and I hope some of you can make it to my sale and swap. I have had a hard time getting prepared for this, and there are a few things I want you to be aware of.

My house is in very bad repair, as is my yard. I was going to fix it all up, had a guy working on the house, and the City of North Port red flagged me. It seems you can only use THEIR licensed contractors, who charge 4 times what my contractor was charging. I could not afford it, and so I talked to my lawyer. We tried to work something out with them, but they wouldn't budge, so then he asked me if I was in love with the house. I said "No." He said "Then let it go."  My house was never worth much. I paid $54,000 for it 14 years ago, and it is now worth about $43,000. It's not worth fixing up and staying in, and that is why I am leaving.

So don't expect much. My house is ratty and so is my yard. I am almost ashamed to invite anyone to it, but it is what it is. Judge me if you wish, but you haven't lived the last 4 years of my life. My house is cluttered and full of packing boxes also.

I will have it as clean as is humanly possible, but expect dirty carpets and maybe some dust on the ceiling fans. If a less-than-perfect house offends you, please don't come. I can't stand people who give you that crinkly nose look ...you know the one, like they smell something bad. No, it doesn't smell bad.

WATCH YOUR STEP!  I have been selling paving blocks, and there are holes in the ground. I do not have insurance on the house at this time, and nothing for you to take from me, so if you are careless and injure yourself, you're on your own.  Areas will be roped off. Don't Walk There! Consider this fair warning.

HOURS: You can be there as early as 8 a.m. to set up. I put 9:00 on the ad on Craigslist. I'd like to wrap it up by 3:00 p.m.  I have lupus, and get tired very easily, so that's about all the excitement I can stand for the day.

What to Bring:
I will have water, ice and colas. If you have a special kind of drink you want, please BYO. I'll have ice for sodas, but if you need a cooler, please bring your own. I ask that you don't bring alcoholic beverages, but if you can't live without them, be aware that the North Port police department has more drunk driving arrests and convictions per capita than any other city in S. Florida.

Bring folding chairs. I don't have a lot of chairs, only about 6, and to be honest, they aren't very comfortable and I don't know if I will have time to clean them.

Bring a table if you want for selling or swapping plants. I put an ad on Craigslist, so we may have some visitors. Feel free to sell your plants if you wish.

Bring a dish if you want. I will have chips and dips, but any treat is welcome.

Bring a smile, because I need all I can get right now.

Here are the directions.

DO NOT park in the street, don't let any part of your car be in the street or across a driveway. The North Port Police are horrible about ticketing people. Park on the swale in front of the house or on the opposite side of the street. Please don't park on the neighbor's swale or in the driveway, as that will be reserved for those loading up plants.
